Oxfordshire has reacted after England’s heart-breaking loss in the Euro 2024 final.
The Three Lions took on Spain in the showpiece at the Olympiastadion in Berlin on Sunday night, kicking off at 8pm.
After a cagey first half, the teams went into the break goalless with no clear chances of note for either side.
Spain came out of the blocks fast though and took the lead after just two minutes after the restart with Nico Williams converting from Lamine Yamal’s ball.
England grew into the game and bagged themselves an equaliser following a stunning long-range strike from substitute Cole Palmer.

It was not to be for the Three Lions though as Spain scored a late winner in the 86th minute as Mikel Oyarzabel fired his nation to glory.
Oxfordshire’s community has been reacting to the result since last night as fans saw England lose a second successive Euros final following the defeat to Italy in 2021.
MP for Oxford West and Abingdon Layla Moran posted on X and said: “I’m jealous of Spanish people today but bravo.”
The post included both football and tennis emojis referring to Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz’s victory at Wimbledon earlier on Sunday.

Oxford East MP Anneliese Dodds also took to the social media platform to react to the Three Lions’ painful defeat but chose to echo Keir Starmer’s thoughts and repost.
“You made your country proud, England,” said the Prime Minister on X.
“Congratulations to Spain.”
Oxfordshire has many locals travelling to Germany for the tournament with some being lucky enough to have a ticket for the final in Berlin.

In the end, Spain had too much for England but the atmosphere in Oxfordshire building up to the game and during was one of pride and passion.
