Changing Ends is returning to ITV for a second series, which offers a semi-autobiographical take on the life of a young Alan Carr.

It follows his younger self growing up in the 1980s when his dad, Graham Carr, was the manager of Northampton Town.

Carr, 48, created and wrote the show which had its first series drop on ITVX in 2023.

It went on to become the biggest comedy ever on ITVX with over 6.5 million streams.

The official synopsis for Changing Ends reads: "The second season picks up shortly after the first, as young Alan contends with impending puberty and feeling sidelined by his family.

"With Graham Carr distracted by Northampton Town FC, who are battling for promotion, can he be there for his son when he most needs him?"

Speaking to Radio Times Carr explained why he felt it was important for the show to be accessible to younger audiences, saying he hopes it will resonate with kids and teenagers.

He said: "If they feel like maybe they're a little bit different or if they're getting bullied, you're not alone. And sometimes the things you get bullied for at school might, in the end, be your trademark, and might actually be why people do come to see you, or watch you on the telly, or at the theatre."

The first episode of the second series of Changing Ends will air on ITV1 at 9pm on Saturday, July 13.

The second episode will follow immediately afterwards at 9.30pm, with the remaining four episodes being broadcast in the same timeslot.

Alongside that, the full series will be available to watch on ITVX from July 13.
