A Thame care home is set to hold a sports day in celebration of this summer's Olympic Games.

On July 20, Cuttlebrook Hall will host the event as part of a nationwide initiative involving more than 130 care homes.

From 11am to 4.30pm, Thame residents can join the home for The Big Care UK Sports Day event, which is designed to show what life at a care home is like.

Visitors will have the chance to take part in egg-and-spoon races, tug of war, and shot put, with the opportunity to win a gold medal.

Visitors can also enjoy a barbecue cooked by the home’s head chef, and listen to music.

Alana Corr, home manager at Cuttlebrook Hall, said: "We’re delighted to be welcoming the local community to join our own sporting celebrations.

"We are part of a strong community here in Thame, and days like this are a fantastic way of bringing everyone together for a little healthy competition and to celebrate this year’s summer of sport, all while showcasing exactly what life is like here at Cuttlebrook Hall.

"The day not only promises a lot of laughter and enjoyment for all involved, but also is an excellent way for residents to meet and mingle with lots of new faces – and some familiar ones – while keeping active. We can’t wait until kick-off."
