A singer-songwriter who fell seriously ill after catching Covid-19 says her near-death experience has enabled her to talk to the dead.

Brocarde, who lives in Witney, first grabbed headlines when she married and then divorced the ghost of a Victorian soldier named Edwardo.

Now aged 40, she has revealed that she nearly lost her life due to a severe health emergency.

She believes this incident "opened the portal to the afterlife" and gave her the ability to "transcend the boundaries" to communicate with the dead.

She said: "Almost dying forces you to change your views on life, nothing is infinite, nothing is impossible and there’s a whole world out there that we don’t truly understand.

"It’s easy to write off ghost encounters as humour or fantasy, and I try my hardest to maintain a good sense of humour throughout everything I’ve encountered, but there’s a serious side to the spirit world.”

During her hospital stay, she says she had numerous strange outer body experiences and received messages from the other side.

Following her return home after several months, she had her first interaction with a force she says she knew was not human.

She said: "Talking about almost dying was impossible for me at the time and after such a dramatic ghost encounter I felt I need to address the paranormal element of what happened, as it felt easier than the human element, but I really recognise the connection now between the two sets of events."

She continued: "There’s definitely truth in the notion, that almost dying, lead to me being able to communicate with the dead.

"After that experience, my whole life changed, I was fearless because I’d realised that death is the worst thing that could happen to us, so being judged for talking about my paranormal encounters felt irrelevant.

"I concluded that everything happens for a reason, and when we faced with death, it’s not the opinions of strangers that are important.”

Brocarde said talking openly about her experiences has resulted in criticism, ridicule, and even death threats.

However, she remains unfazed and said an "overwhelming" number of people have reached out in solidarity, sharing their own supernatural experiences.

She added the "amount of interest in the subject is phenomenal”.

Her journey into the paranormal has seen her featuring on numerous TV shows including 'This Morning' and 'Say Yes to The Dress'.

The singer is currently filming a series on paranormal activity to learn more about the supernatural world.
