An Oxford city centre newsagent shop headed by a married couple has won a national award.

Hiten and Kinnari Patel have been running Honey’s of the High in High Street since 2013 and saw off competition from across the UK and Ireland.

The couple earned the title of Best Customer Service at the 2024 Fed Awards leaving 45-year-old Kinnari feeling proud.

“This recognition means so much to us both,” she said.

“Hiten and I would like to thank our team at Honey’s, whom without their hard work and dedication, none of this would be possible.

“To our family and friends for their unwavering support and encouragement. And, of course, our loyal and kind customers.

“We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your continuous patronage and trust. Without you, Honey’s would not be here today.

“Once again, thank you kindly to everyone who has supported Honey’s over the years.

“This award is not just a recognition of our hard work, but a testament to the strong bonds of friendship, service and dedication we have built within our community.”

The glittering ceremony was hosted by renowned impressionist, comedian and satirist Rory Bremner at the Hilton Metropole Hotel in Birmingham on June 18.

The judges said: “Customer service is an integral part at Honey's of The High.

“Hiten and Kinnari ensure that all areas of customer service are covered, from staff training covering the basics to product knowledge, safety and security, through to food hygiene.
