A village pub near Banbury held its first community dog walk two weeks ago with plans for another one already being discussed for September.

Charlotte Prew, landlady of The Roebuck Inn in Drayton, organised the walk with Claire Steels, a local dog walker.

As many as 36 dogs turned up with their owners to take part in the 4.2 mile walk on Sunday, June 30.

Ms Prew said she was "blown away by how successful it was"  and that there is potential for up to 60 dogs to attend the next one.

She said: "We limited it when we got to 36 because it was our first event.

"We wanted to keep it to smaller numbers and have a cut off point so we knew we could control it.

“Everybody absolutely loved it and we’ve already got a lot of people booked ready to come to the next one without the official date being announced."

Steph Simons, who attended the walk with her husband and two dogs, said it was a walk "filled full of smiles, happy people and most importantly, happy dogs".

She added that it was "everything to make for a perfect Sunday" and she "can’t wait for the next walk".
