A Chipping Norton care home welcomed rabbits, chickens, guinea pigs and more recently.

Residents at Southerndown Care Home enjoyed a visit from Lucia’s Tiny Farm, which saw Bernie the bearded dragon and other creatures roam around the home's lounge.

General manager Arlene Acuavera said: "Our residents have really enjoyed their unusual visitors today.

"We knew that having the farm here would be a bit of fun for all our residents, especially as some find it difficult to go on many outings in our minibus.

"We are always looking for new activities for the residents and today we have seen the seen the enjoyment and the therapeutic influence animals can have on people."

Resident ambassador Sheila added: "As a child I used to love all the animals on the nearby farm.

"Today was very enjoyable and it was wonderful that the animals were free to roam amongst us."

It is the latest event to take place at the home after residents got moving for Barchester moving campaign.

Residents and staff donned their trainers and embarked on an energetic walk around the care home.

They were rewarded for their efforts with a winner's buffet featuring sandwiches, cakes, and drinks.

Southerndown Care Home is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers, and offers nursing, residential and respite care.
