A new ice cream parlour and takeaway in Abingdon is now busy with customers.

Santino Hamze, originally from the Lebanon, has moved from London to open a new ice cream parlour, with a Lebanese takeaway next door.

The father-of-one is running the business with wife Nikola and they have taken a five-year lease on the listed property in Bath Street, which contains a historic well.

Mr Hamze opened earlier this month and said the reaction of customers has been very positive.

"If the customers are satisfied we know they will keep coming back," said Mr Hamze.

"We are getting lots of school pupils and tourists coming in to try the ice creams and the takeaway is popular too.

"It's a good time of year to open an ice cream parlour - perhaps we will try something a little different in the winter."

Graeme Hirst from Didcot, who called in for an ice cream, said: "It's a friendly place and I was glad to find it open."

Love Desserts has also opened in High Street selling ice cream and cakes but Mr Hamze is confident he will still get lots of customers.
