Young people in Oxfordshire will be offered free Saturday clubs during the next academic year.
National Saturday Club is working in partnership with Activate Learning’s City of Oxford College and Banbury and Bicester College to provide Saturday clubs for 13–16-year-olds
The clubs, which will not include any exams, are open to youngsters of all abilities.
Banbury and Bicester College will be hosting art and design and film and screen clubs, while City of Oxford College will provide clubs in craft and making, fashion and business and science and engineering.
The scheme gives young people the chance to explore subjects they are passionate about, develop new skills, discover their talents and meet others with similar interests.
Currently, Saturday clubs are available in eight subjects across the UK.
In addition to the Saturday classes, which will be led by tutors at the colleges, club members will have access to national Saturday club events.
These include masterclasses with industry professionals, a public Summer Show where the clubs nationwide exhibit their work, and a graduation ceremony to commend the achievements of the club members.
Club members attend weekly Saturday classes led by expert tutors in their community and take part in national events throughout the year including visits to leading cultural institutions.
A national network of further education, higher education, the cultural sector and industry works together in partnership to deliver these extracurricular activities
