A South Oxfordshire venue has been handed a new two-out-of-five food hygiene rating despite near perfect TripAdvisor scores for food and service.

Chefs Taste at The Butchers Arms in Blounts Court Road in Sonning Common, was given the score after assessment on May 16, the Food Standards Agency's website shows.

The management of food safety was found to be generally satisfactory as were the cleanliness and conditions of facilities and the building.

The report noted that improvement was 'necessary' in hygienic food handling - which covers preparation, cooking, reheating, cooling and storage.

Meanwhile on TripAdvisor the venue has received many positive reviews for what a customer called "good, honest pub grub".

The latest review means that of South Oxfordshire's 281 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 149 or 53 per cent have ratings of five, and just one has a zero rating.
