APPROVAL has been granted for a new Tesco Express supermarket on a city road by a major housing development.
Oxford City Councillors made the decision to grant permission for the planned store at Barton Fields road in Headington at a licensing meeting on Monday (June 17) this week.
The newly-granted licence will allow the sale of alcohol for consumption off the premises Sunday to Saturday from 6am to midnight and late night refreshment Sunday to Saturday between 11pm and midnight.

Opening hours would be Sunday to Saturday from 6am to midnight.
Work at Barton Park started in 2015.
Some objections had been raised to the Tesco Express application in relation to the licensing conditions.
One objector, Giulia Orlando, said: "I would like to express my concerns with both the selling of alcohol in the late hours and the opening times of the Tesco that will be allocated in front of our house.
"We are in a residential area and while it would be great to have a shop, I am afraid that this will drive unsocial behaviour at our door steps.
"Compared to shops in nearby Barton, it will be opened until later driving anyone in need of a drink in front of our house.
"The Tesco express located in Headington on a main road, not in front of people houses, as more limited opening times than the one proposed here.
"I would like to strongly oppose to the opening times too as 6am opening will bring noise at very early times which will inevitably interfere with our sleep as our bedroom is located on that side of the road."
