A spokesperson for Chiltern Railways on Wednesday morning said: "Due to an obstruction on the track between Oxford Parkway and Oxford all lines are blocked.

"We have ticket acceptance in place for Great Western Railway between Oxford and London Paddington and Cross Country Trains between Oxford and Banbury."

Chiltern Railways confirmed before 10am that the lines had reopened but delays were expected.

"Following an obstruction on the track between Oxford Parkway and Oxford all lines towards Oxford are now open," said a spokesperson.

"Train services running through these stations may be cancelled or delayed by up to 30 minutes while service recovery takes place.

"Thank you for your patience."
