Firefighters were called after a young child got locked in a car.

A crew from Oxford's Rewley Road Fire Station were called to reports of a child locked inside a vehicle today (Tuesday June 18) at around 10am.

When they reached the scene they were met by the little boy's mother who had accidentally managed to lock her keys inside the car while her son Joel was still in inside.

Firefighters successfully managed to gain access to the keys and unlock the car without causing any damage.

The crew praised Joel "who remained calm and patient throughout".

And they warned drivers to be wary of setting off locks by mistake.

Firefighter Chapman said: “Please remember to be careful of auto locks on vehicles when placing the keys down."
