A rare Xbox console donated to an Oxford charity shop has sold for thousands of pounds - with the funds going towards the British Heart Foundation.

The bright green, unique gaming console finally sold on Saturday night after 62 bids - ultimately selling for £7,700.

The Pepsi Hulk Console, of which only 36 were available, was released in 2003 and the British Heart Foundation believes only 20 have ever been found.

The money from the sale will go towards funding life-saving research into heart and circulatory diseases.

The British Heart Foundation said Paul Smith, a passionate gamer and function tested at the charity's eBay headquarters, spotted the bright green colour and knew it was something special.

Mr Smith said: "I’m a games enthusiast myself and the rare green colour combined with the Hulk and Pepsi logo really stood out."

Richard Pallier, head of online retail, added: “It’s very exciting when a rare item like this gets generously donated to us.

"Our team of experts at our eBay HQ work hard to test and verify these unique pieces and realise their best value to ensure they go to loving new homes.

“Even if you’re not in the market for a rare gaming console, we’re the biggest charity retailer globally on eBay, selling over 440,000 items on there every year.

"From shoes to sofas, designer to vintage, collectables to high street, shop from the comfort of your own home and know that all your shopping helps fund our life saving research.”
