The family of a woman who spent six years at a care home in Chipping Norton has thanked the home's staff to mark National Carers Week.

The Kitching family laid on a thank you party and hamper for all of the staff at Southerndown Care Home to mark their appreciation while their mother, Christine, lived with them at the home.

She spent a six years at Southerndown and staff and fellow residents said she had a huge impact in the home.

Arlene Acuavera, general manager at Southerndown, said: "It is so wonderful to be able to receive such a huge appreciation of thanks from the family, the staff work so hard to ensure our residents are provide the best care and life enrichment in the home, and for a family to go above and beyond to show their appreciation for the team is something we are so thankful for."

The home's residents also celebrated the national event, which runs from June 10-16, by thanking the home's staff.

National Carers Week is an annual event that aims to highlight the challenges faced by carers and to recognise their contributions to families and communities across the UK.

This year's theme is 'putting carers on the map' to raise awareness about the significant role carers play.

Southerndown offers nursing care, residential care, and respite care.
