A charity event which invites people to spend a night sleeping rough is set to return to Oxford later this year.
Oxfordshire Homeless Movement has teamed up with CEO Sleepout, a national charity aiming to unite the business sector in combating homelessness, to deliver the event.
Set to be hosted in University Parks, the event will take place on October 10 from 7.30pm until 6am the following morning and will aim to bring together academic, charity, and business leaders.
The event, in its effort to tackle homelessness, seeks to provide participants with an understanding of what homelessness is like and raise awareness and funds.
CEO Sleepout recognises this single-night experience can only provide a fleeting view into the reality of homelessness.
It said: "We aren't pretending you will understand what it is like to sleep outside day after day, but it does give a tiny glimpse of what people have to endure."
The charity is urging business individuals, or those capable of establishing teams within their organisations, to take part in the event.
Oxfordshire Homeless Movement said: "All we ask is that you commit to trying to raise £1,000 per person – imagine the difference that could make to homelessness locally."
Last year's sleepout in Oxford raised £76,500 for Oxfordshire Homeless Movement, with the money going towards the charity's frontline projects.
