A Banbury care home has hosted a street party and commemorative ceremony to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
Highmarket House held a 1940s themed party and lamp lighting ceremony for residents and their families.
The care home joined forces with royal pageant master Bruno Peek, who coordinated ‘D-Day 80 Lamp Light of Peace’, and three forces charities as well as the Merchant Navy Association.
Highmarket House was one of 100 Care UK homes across the county which took part in the tribute.
The day was filled with 1940s music, a buffet prepared by the care home's chef and stories from residents.
Attire from the 40s filled the day with a live musician entertaining guests with classic hits from the era.
Home Manager at Highmarket House, Francesca Cowley, said: "We were delighted to join this nationwide initiative and mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
“Reminiscence activities are a great way for older people, and those living with dementia, to connect with those around them and help maintain a sense of identity.
"The residents have been sharing their own stories and memories – it’s been fantastic to hear everyone’s experiences and learn from one another.
“On behalf of the whole team, I’d like to thank all the guests who joined; it really was a heartfelt day for everyone involved.”
