A former Oxford United star is teaming up with a local grassroots football team as they come together to celebrate Refugee Week. 

Celebrating its third anniversary later this month, Oxford Phoenix was formed by charity Refugee Resource and Asylum Welcome, supported by Oxford United in the community. 

Phoenix offers opportunities to young men new to Oxfordshire to get involved in sport.

A Phoenix spokesperson said: "Since starting, the team has played a significant role in the players’ lives, creating a sense of community, and has led to some players joining established football clubs in Oxfordshire."

On Monday, June 17, former Oxford United striker James Constable will run a coaching session. 

Next week, June 17 to 23, is Refugee Week, with Refugee Day celebrated on June 20. 

The session on June 17 will take place from 5pm to 6.30pm will take place at Greyfriars Catholic School in Cricket Road in Cowley, OX4 3DR.
