The NSPCC’s child sexual abuse prevention campaign is launching a new initiative across Oxfordshire this week.
Talk PANTS Week will target the prevention of abuse through training and awareness sessions for parents, professionals, and children.
Since its introduction in January, the campaign has helped more than 1,700 Oxfordshire children and educated more than 500 adults about the signs of sexual abuse and how to report it.
As the campaign enters phase two, the NSPCC will be launching a Talk PANTS-themed children’s poster competition from June 15.
Children will be invited to design new pants for Pantosaurus – the PANTS mascot.
The competition is open for all children in the county, with a top prize of a £25 voucher.
Rebecca Duggan, NSPCC Local Campaigns Officer for Oxfordshire, said: "We've seen some fantastic uptake on our sessions from the local community, and we hope to see this momentum continue throughout the rest of the campaign.
"It's thanks to this community spirit that more children across Oxfordshire will be able to remain safe from sexual abuse."
Summer events are also lined up in collaboration with the Oxfordshire Play Association.
The Recreation Ground on Oxford Road in Littlemore will host an event on June 15 where families can meet the NSPCC team and Pantosaurus, and receive Talk PANTS resources.
The NSPCC’s Talk PANTS campaign has been supporting and encouraging parents to talk to children, aged between four and eight, since its launch in 2013.
