POLICE have dubbed a victim as ‘incredibly brave’ after her ex-boyfriend was jailed for threatening to rape and shoot her.

Max Paintin, 26, of Eastern Avenue, was sentenced to four years and five months in prison on Tuesday (June 11) at Oxford Crown Court.

He was sentenced for three counts of ABH, two counts of assault on an emergency worker and a count each to coercive and controlling behaviour, intentional strangulation, threatening to disclose private photographs and criminal damage.

The offences took place between February last year and May this year.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Leah Boswell, based at Oxford Police Station, said: “The victim in this case endured this abuse for a year before contacting the police.

“She has shown incredible bravery in coming forward and without her detailed account and willingness to provide evidence, this outcome would not have been possible.

“I hope this conviction goes some way in giving victims the confidence to come forward to the police to report such offences.
