Foreign Secretary David Cameron visited an Oxfordshire nursery as part of the general election campaign trail.

Lord Cameron joined children’s minister David Johnston, who is a Conservative Oxfordshire MP candidate for Didcot and Wantage, at the Bright Horizons preschool and nursery in Didcot on Friday, June 7.

The former prime minister was pictured speaking with staff members and baking with children at the nursery.

A spokesperson for Bright Horizons said: “It was an interesting conversation with David Cameron and David Johnston here at Bright Horizons Didcot Nursery last week.

"Providing children with the best possible start in life is paramount.

"That’s why early years need to have a voice in this election to ensure the sector becomes a recognised and exciting option for those wanting a rewarding career.”

On the same day, Lord Cameron, who was MP for Witney from 2001 to 2016 and prime minister from 2010 to 2016, also visited AFE, a specialist engineering company in Carterton.

Although he still lives in West Oxfordshire he admitted there are many things he misses about being the MP for Witney.

Speaking to the Oxford Mail, he said: "I stay in touch with lots of people.

"I think the connection you get from the work you do as an MP, the surgeries you do, and the feedback you get, is incredibly valuable. It’s what makes us work as members of parliament."
