Fresh plans have been lodged by the same applicant to turn three houses in different Oxfordshire locations into children's homes and another house into a care setting for parents.

Alexandra Collins, who lives in Didcot, had already applied to bring the care setting for parents to Park Road in the town last month but now is also seeking permission for a children's home in Harwell in Didcot, another in Abingdon and a third in Kidlington.

Existing houses would be turned into Ofsted registered children's residential homes by Ms Collins who describes herself as a social worker who has been fostering within Oxfordshire County Council.

The applicant added: "The aim is to support young people to become agentic, independent, valuable members of society who need less input from adult social care once turning 18.

"Our home will provide 24/7 support, with two support staff and one manager on shift always."

The three-bed home for Long Furlong Road in Sunningwell near Abingdon would be for two young people aged 7-17, the five-bed home in Banbury Road in Kidlington would be for three-four young people aged 7-17, while the home in Hill View in Harwell would be for two young people aged 7-17.

The previous application submitted for Park Road in Didcot would provide a 24/7 care setting for nine parents with babies under 18 months old.

One Oxfordshire resident, who did not wish to disclose their name, said: "Sadly, there's big money in these homes now and this affects fostering and adoption.

"A gold rush is occurring because local authorities are paying up to 20k per week per child."
