Oxford has been named as the UK city least interested in second-hand fashion as fears over online scams grows.

Research carried out by QR Code Generator found its residents are the least interested in purchasing used clothing online, with just 69.01 relative searches per 100,000.

This is nearly 71 per cent below the national average.

The data examined Google search data from the past year to identify areas most and least likely to purchase second-hand fashion online.

A common concern for those not shopping second-hand appears to be the fear of scams.

People are also wary about not being able to examine the product before purchase and the potential to receive damaged or fake goods.

Marc Porcar, the CEO of QR Code Generator, said: "Second-hand shopping is a great way to introduce new items to your summer wardrobe in a budget-friendly way."

He also warned of rising scam rates as demand surges.

Mr Porcar urged consumers to film the unwrapping of online purchases and to keep personal details, including email and bank details, private.

He also advised never to make transactions outside the trading platform to maintain buyer protection and always to check reviews before purchasing.

Lastly, for more expensive purchases, you are recommended to use services that verify the authenticity of the items, preventing scams selling fake designer goods.
