A vintage clothes sale is coming to Oxford later this month with its organisers hoping to benefit from second-hand clothes' growing popularity.

With the cost of living still high and budgets being squeezed, consumers are becoming increasingly drawn to second-hand fashion.

Worth The Weight's next vintage kilo sale is scheduled for June 23 at Oxford Town Hall, with early bird tickets priced at £3, and £2 thereafter.

Worth The Weight organiser, Chris Davies, said: "Our events remain increasingly popular, obviously we’re seeing summer stock fly off the rails but people know a bargain when they see it - our events have a full range of departments from nappa jackets to short shorts."

The fashion industry is second only to agriculture as the biggest consumer of water worldwide, and it generates 10 per cent of global carbon emissions.

A change, however, could be on the horizon with the preloved clothing industry experiencing a growth of 18 per cent to £156 billion since last year and is expected to increase to $350 billion by 2028.

British Vogue has highlighted this shift and predicted 'craft' as a spring/summer trend, encouraging readers to reinvent their wardrobe whilst also supporting the recycling of clothing materials.

It noted how fashion brand Diesel recreates party dresses from shredded denim and adds crochet detailing to give new life to old garments.
