Abingdon to have new dessert parlours opening soon

Love Desserts already has cafes in Bicester, Banbury and Hayes in Middlesex, and its signs have gone up at a shop unit in the High Street.

The new business will open later this month, serving gelatos, cakes, waffles, milkshakes and donuts.

A member of staff at the Bicester cafe said: "We are opening this month - it could be by the end of this week but definitely very soon."

The Love Desserts website says: "At our dessert shop, we believe that desserts are not just a treat, but a source of pure joy.

"Our desserts are made with the finest ingredients and the utmost care, ensuring that every bite is a moment of bliss.

"From our fluffy donuts and decadent cheesecakes to our creamy milkshakes and refreshing smoothies, every item on our menu is designed to delight your senses and lift your spirits.

"Whether you’re in the mood for a classic scoop of ice cream or an adventurous gelato flavour, we’ve got something for everyone.

"Our warm and welcoming atmosphere is the perfect place to relax and indulge in the simple pleasures of life. So come on in and discover the taste of pure joy with our desserts." 

There is also a new ice cream parlour due to open just around the corner in Bath Street.

It will serve ice cream, waffles, pancakes and milkshakes.

Santino's Grill, a new burger bar, is to open alongside it, and one of the owners of both businesses said they would both be open soon.

Love Desserts is the latest new business to open in the town's High Street. 

In February, Abbey Fresh Food, selling fruit and vegetables, bread and meat opened in the large retail unit previously occupied by Abingdon Sports.

It is being run by Plamena Marinova and Biser Andreev.

The couple came to the UK from Bulgaria in 2006 and worked for Millets Farm in Frilford, picking, planting and packing fruit.

Abbey Fresh Food is open seven days a week and is next door to the Dog Spot, a dog-friendly cafe which opened in the unit previously occupied by an air ambulance charity shop.

While some new shops have been opening in Abingdon town centre, there have been closures in the Bury Street precinct.

Clarks shoe shop in Abingdon closed suddenly in April after serving customers for about two decades.

It was part of a franchise, and the Wallingford branch also closed.

Vodafone in the precinct also announced it would be closing.
