Oxford Pride is returning this year to celebrate it's 21st anniversary with a new theme to embrace the "vibrant spirit", featuring a march, live acts and more.

The event will be held all day this Saturday (June 8) at various locations in the city centre.

This year’s theme is “One City, One Pride – Embrace your Rainbow”.

The event will start in Radcliffe Square with a march at 10.30am, forming at 9am, starting earlier this year.

Chair of Oxford Pride, Rob Jordan, said: "The weather is looking pretty good. I'm feeling pretty positive.

"I think we have an event where there is going to be something for everybody."

This year there will be three live stages, an accessible viewing area, and live acts broadcast on a big screen.

There will be a Paradise Street Party from noon until 10pm with a Cabaret Stage from 5.30pm until 10pm, followed by the official Pride after party at The Plush Lounge from 9pm until 6am.

This year there will also be two screens text-to-type and British sign language interpreters to make the event as accessible as possible.

Mr Jordan added: "We’re trying to make oxford pride the most accessible its ever been.

"We are most excited about the headlining act of the main stage, Queens, which is a troop of five drag queens who have just finished a sell out West End run.

"They will be coming straight from that onto the main stage of Oxford.

"It's the biggest act we have ever had."

A statement on Oxford Pride's website says: "Oxford Pride is both a celebration and a protest, and we invite you to be your authentic and brave selves as we march through the city.

"The Pride Festival and Pride Day with the parade through our beautiful city is an important opportunity for us to come together and highlight the inequalities we face and celebrate the milestones we have achieved.

"Oxford Pride is dedicated to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion.

"We strive to eliminate barriers, foster respect, and create a strong sense of community, belonging, and visibility for everyone – we invite you to join us."
