Young people have been seen riding pit bikes on a byway, sparking a busy week for Wantage police as they search for the culprits.

Wantage neighbourhood policing team (NHPT) has also seized an e-scooter after complaints regarding the use of the vehicle, while there have been investigations into offensive weapon possession, Thames Valley Police has said this morning (June 4).

The team gave multiple e-scooter warnings following a series of complaints regarding their use, and seized one from a rider who failed to comply with previous warnings.

The NHPT has also been conducting intensive targeted patrols as it increases its focus on shoplifting offences, and have conducted routine anti-social behaviour patrols in and around the Wantage town centre.

As part of this work, the team has engaged with several local rural businesses and offered security advice.

The NHPT has also assisted the response team in multiple area searches for missing people and searched for people seen entering a "dangerously-derelict" building.

The team said it had also completed a risk assessment with a vulnerable person as part of a fraud investigation.

Every neighbourhood in Thames Valley has a dedicated NHPT that aims to work with the local community and partners to prevent and reduce crime and disorder, improve neighbourhood conditions and improve feelings of security.
