A charity football tournament is set to take place this weekend to raise funds for a disability caravan in memory of a beloved member of the community.

The event, which will take place on June 8 at Leys Pool and Leisure Centre in Oxford, will be in memory of Kelly Jackson, who was born with spina bifida and died in April 2020.

Her family and friends are now uniting to remember her while raising money for the Kelly Jackson Memorial Fund.

The fund is aiming to raise money to buy an all-purpose wheelchair access caravan in Weymouth.

Spina bifida is when a baby’s spine and spinal cord does not develop properly in the womb, causing a gap in the spine.

Ms Jackson, who lived in Donnington, was unable to walk and spent most of her life in a wheelchair.

She did a lot of charity work with Oxford Phab, which provides social activities for people with and without disabilities.

Alongside the football, the event will also feature a BBQ, sweet stalls, bouncy castle and DJ.

There will be awards for the best team name and best dressed team.

The first game will kick off at 10am with the day expected to finish by 5pm.

Registration will take pace at 9am on the day, with a maximum of seven players per team and a cost of £5 per player.

The event's organisers said: "All are welcome and we looked forward to seeing you all there."
