An Oxford pub has been handed a colourful makeover with some Alice in Wonderland and Endeavour wall art.

The Library in Cowley Road received the facade revamp in May, welcoming several vibrant characters to the pub’s frontage.

Among those featured are the Cheshire Cat, Caterpillar and White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland as well as Inspector Endeavour Morse.

The famous children’s story has a local connection to the city of Oxford with author Lewis Carroll being a tutor at Christ Church college at Oxford University when he wrote the books.

The work was done by MES Graffiti Crew, which stands for Mad Eclectic Styles, who are a collective of graffiti writers, artists, designers and musicians.

Their aim is to open up walls, underpasses, tunnels and often entire towns for the use of graffiti and street art with the blessing and support of community groups, councils, and local authorities.

A spokesperson for The Library pub said: “Wow. Just want to say a massive thank you and give a shout out to the MES Graffiti Crew for the unbelievable piece of art they have created.

“We really hope you all love it as much as we do. Having learnt more about MES and everything they are hoping to do and what they are about, it's really awesome.”
