Indian cricketer Virat Kohli, widely regarded as one of the best batters in the history of the sport, has made a surprise visit to Oxfordshire.

The globally famous sporting star was discussed on the latest episode of the Tailenders cricket podcast, hosted by Radio 1 presenter Greg James, musician Felix White and England cricketer James Anderson.

The former read out email correspondence from an A-Level student called Amelia on the podcast, who said she lives in a "tiny village in Oxfordshire" and noticed Kohli "randomly visited that village recently" via posts on social media platform Instagram.

Mr James said: "He was just wandering around. I wonder if he has got a second, or third, or fourth, or fifth or sixth property out in Oxfordshire."

The Tailenders performed a live show at Oxford's New Theatre in October with Mr White telling the Oxford Mail at the time he was returning to the city where he had performed with his band The Maccabees at the Zodiac, now the O2 Academy.

Virat Kohli has scored the most centuries in the history of One Day International cricket with 50, putting him one ahead of fellow Indian great Sachin Tendulkar on the all-time charts.
