Prince Charles took part in a polo match, England manager Ron Greenwood was guest speaker at the annual Oxfordshire Football Coaches Association meeting and dozens of toys were donated for the Oxford Mail's annual Christmas panto toy appeal.
The year also saw contestants from various countries gathered in Headington to compete in an international potato peeling competition, crowds attending the Henley Scoex llemdey and the Oxfordshire Yeomen being opened at Freeland.
