Westgate Shopping Centre in Oxford is set to bring back its 'Tree of Pride' for a second year.

Visitors to the centre in June will be able decorate the tree with their pledges to work towards a more inclusive and caring future to mark Pride Month.

The tree will be at Westgate Oxford on June 8 and 9, and the public are invited to participate from 10am – 6pm on Saturday and 11am – 5pm on Sunday.

The community art piece will be touring the country gathering the public’s messages of love, unity, and acceptance.

Visitors are encouraged to commit to the suggested pledges or to leave a positive sentiment, such as a dedication to a loved one.

Oxford Pride's Pride Day celebrations will take place at Westgate on June 8.

The Oxford Pride Parade will lead to the community stage and market stalls, located on Leiden Square at the heart of the shopping centre.

Performers including the Oxford Drag Collective will entertain visitors form midday to 6pm.

Westgate Oxford centre director, Brendan Hattam, said: "After so many visitors left messages of inclusivity and positivity last year, we knew that we had to bring the Tree of Pride back for Oxford Pride 2024.

“We celebrate our wonderfully diverse community all day, every day, and Pride Month is an opportunity to put a spotlight on progress made so far, and the work still to be done.”
