Work has begun at a housing development in Harwell that will deliver 246 new homes.

Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties received approval for its Valley Park development, which will be located adjacent to its Great Western Park development, from the Vale of White Horse District Council.

Phase one of Valley Park will comprise a mix of 246 one and two bed apartments and two, three and four-bedroom homes, of which 86 will be affordable.

Phase one will be called Primrose Gardens and Taylor Wimpey will create public green space with footpaths and cycle links to the northern and southern boundaries.

The first homes at Primrose Gardens will be launched in the summer.

Laura Tilley, land and planning director for Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties, said: "We’re pleased to have received approval for our Valley Park development and grateful to the Didcot community for providing us with their feedback and ideas during the consultation process.

"We recognise that the Didcot Neighbourhood Plan is hugely important to local residents and we are glad that councillors have voted in favour of our updated design.

"We look forward to watching the development progress and to sharing details about the first homes available for sale this summer."

The Valley Park development will include two new primary schools, two local centres, community buildings, shops, sports facilities, playing fields and green open spaces.
