Residents and staff at two retirement homes have cycled the equivalent distance of Oxfordshire's perimeter, covering 200 miles each, to raise funds for an Oxford hospice.
Richmond Villages Witney and Richmond Villages Letcombe Regis residents and staff completed the challenge in two weeks, contributing towards OxTrail 2024, which is raising money for Sobell House Hospice.
Martin Crick, village manager at Richmond Villages Witney, said: "We are immensely proud of the residents and staff who have participated in this incredible journey.
"Their resilience and generosity demonstrate the power of collective action in making a positive impact on our community."
The retirement homes have collectively raised £2,000 through the endeavour, which will directly support Sobell House Hospice as it continues to provide palliative care and support services.
Richmond Villages urges both individuals and businesses to contribute to the cause and help to make a difference in the lives of hospice patients and their families.
OxTrail 2024 is Oxfordshire’s first-ever sculpture trail, featuring more than 30 life-sized and mini herds of oxen, designed to draw together the community.
The sculptures, crafted by artists, schools, and businesses will be on display throughout the county from July 6 until the end of August.
Among the artists is Oxford-based Korky Paul, who is famed for illustrating the Winnie the Witch children’s book series.
They will then be auctioned off to raise money for Sobell House Hospice.
