An Oxford school put forward its largest ever team of runners for this year’s Town and Gown as it was represented by more than 250 staff, pupils and parents.

More than 180 pupils and 70 staff and parents from Summer Fields took part to raise funds for Muscular Dystrophy UK.

The pupils were among the youngest entrants in the race, with the school’s youngest being nine.

Director of sport at Summer Fields, Joe Porter, said: "We are incredibly proud of our pupils and delighted that so many of them wanted to be part of this year’s event.

"At Summer Fields every child has the opportunity to take part in sport every day whatever their age or ability.

"What is most important is that the pupils have fun and enjoy the run at their own pace."

Headmaster, David Faber, added: "Once again we were delighted to enter a large team of runners, both pupils for the 3k, as well as staff and parents for the 10k itself.

"We have been supporting the Town and Gown for many years now and we greatly enjoy participating for many reasons.

"The excitement of the event itself, of course, but also the chance for our pupils to learn more about the charity Muscular Dystrophy UK.

"We look forward to continuing to do so for many years yet."
