Two people have been charged on suspicion of carrying knives as part of a widespread police crackdown.

The arrests were all carried out across Bicester by Thames Valley Police’s Problem Solving Team in the town.

Among the arrests were two people who were apprehended by officers for the possession of bladed articles.

Both suspects have been charged with the possession of bladed articles.

Police also secured the arrest of a high-risk domestic abuse suspect who has since been bailed with conditions whilst the investigation continues.

Three further suspects were arrested for 12 shopliftings whilst two other people were arrested for drug possession.

There was a conditional caution for one of the drug offences, with the condition to complete a drugs awareness course as this was their first offence.

The other drug offence saw the person charged with the possession of Class B drugs.

With regard to the shoplifting, two of the suspects were charged with nine of the 12 shopliftings.

The other shoplifting suspect was given a conditional caution after the other three reported incidents of shoplifting.

Taking to social media to share the news, the force posted the statistics from the series of arrests on their official Facebook page for Cherwell.

A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said: “Bicester Problem Solving Team had a very busy last set of shifts.”
