An member of the public was left stunned after a bus driver who was allegedly driving aggressively then proceeded to swear with his middle finger.

The incident happened in the city on Monday, May 13 at around 7.10am as the member of the public encountered the bus driver.

Oxford Bus Company has stated it is "appalled" by the actions of the bus driver and has apologised to the person involved.

It comes after the anonymous member of the public had issued a public post.

This stated: “Hey Oxford Bus Company, here is your driver swearing at me after driving quite aggressively and blowing kisses at me (I think as some form of wind top rather than affectionately).

“[He was] driving SB64 OXF today at about 7.10am.”

The user also posted a photograph of a bus driver appearing to show his middle finger in the camera's direction.

Responding to the incident, a spokesperson for Oxford Bus Company said: “I am appalled to have seen this image this morning. Please accept our deepest apologies.

“We have commenced an internal inquiry into the allegation and are sorry for any distress that may have been caused.

“We would like to reassure customers that our drivers receive stringent training and uphold high standards and claims of this nature are incredibly rare.”

Responding directly to the affected driver, the spokesperson told the Oxford Mail: "This has now been reported, if you have any further information that you feel may be relevant, please don't hesitate to email us at info@oxfordbus.co.uk."
