Next year, St Frideswides Primary School, adjacent to Florence Park, will begin fundraising for a small group intervention teacher.
Historically successful, the role was previously funded by the now-ending National Tutoring Programme.
This academic year is the final year of the programme and the funding, will not be awarded anymore.
To initiate efforts, a teacher is embarking on an Oxford to Lands End cycle ride, waved off by the school on May 24.
Schools will be encouraged to continue to prioritise tuition for the students who need it most, through their existing budgets.
