Pupils at a special needs school have begun creating a sensory mural.
The Mabel Prichard School pupils are taking on the project under the guidance of silk-screen artist Jon Mackay, the school's artist-in-residence.
Mr Mackay, an experienced illustrator, has produced works for Gary Barlow, Latitude Festival and a Keane tour.
The children will create a 'living story' themed mural which will feature a forest backdrop and characters invented by each pupil.
The artwork will go on display at the entrance of the school hall.
Lucy Wawrzyniak, headteacher at Mabel Prichard School, said: "We are so excited to have started this project on our new sensory mural wall.
"The children are delighted to be working with Jon, who has been so supportive in making this happen, and their sessions with him are a real highlight of their week.
"This mural will give our pupils a fantastic opportunity to express themselves and make a lasting impact on our school."
Mr Mackay added: "I am really excited to be working on this mural project with learners at Mabel Prichard School.
"It has been amazing seeing their enjoyment, engagement and focus as they work on the background of the mural.
"I am hoping they will have a sense of shared pride as we move into the next phase of the project where they will start inventing and creating their own sensory animals to live in the magical forest."
