A JURY has heard a man has been accused of picking up a 16-year-old girl in an Oxford cocktail bar before taking her back to his hotel and raping her.

The pair could be seen on CCTV going back to a Didcot hotel before he allegedly raped the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

It was heard that the girl was celebrating school finishing for the Christmas term and had been drinking vodka and cokes with some friends when they decided to head into Oxford city centre.
She remembers drinking and smoking and speaking to her friends in George Street but then told police her memory ‘became blurry’.
A friend of the complainant said the group of friends had got to the cocktail bar at about 9.50pm and a short while later a group of males came in, one being the defendant who had introduced himself as ‘Rollie’.

During this time, a bar staff member stated they could see the girl passed out in the booths and helped to take her outside for some air where she had begun to gain some consciousness.
The bar staff member later said he saw the girl and the defendant kissing and while the girl’s friends were in the toilet, the defendant and the girl got a taxi to the Didcot Courtyard by Marriott hotel in Milton Gate.
Speaking to police, the girl said she didn’t remember much of the hotel but can recall ‘feeling a heavy weight on her’.
The girl’s friends had contacted police becoming worried about her whereabouts.
They were tracked to the hotel and the defendant was arrested at about 5.14am.
Police took the girl to the hospital where a toxicology report revealed she was two and a half times over the drink-drive limit.

Meanwhile, Murphy, of, Wickham Road, Harrow in Middlesex, was interviewed at a police station where he told police he thought the girl was 18 or 19.
He said she was coherent at the hotel and they had both taken their own clothes off.
He said: “At no point did I think I was doing anything wrong, everything we were doing was consensual.”
The trial continues.
