A MAN has pleaded guilty to murder during an appearance at Oxford Crown Court.

Wesley Atick, 26, of Buxton Close, Glebe Farm, Milton Keynes, was convicted for the murder of John Davies in Milton Keynes at the court in St Aldate's yesterday (April 19).

He was remanded in custody and is due to be sentenced at the same court on May 24.

On Monday, October 23 last year, Thames Valley Police received reports of an assault in the underpass between Groveway and Newport Road in Wavendon Gate.

Mr Davies, 34, from Glebe Farm, Milton Keynes, died in hospital three days later on October 26.

A Home Office post-mortem examination found the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head and face.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Will Crowther, of the Major Crime Unit, said: “First and foremost, I would like to extend my sympathy to John’s family. To lose someone in such a horrific manner is unimaginable, and my thoughts remain with them.

“I am glad that Atick has pleaded guilty for a crime that we still don’t know why he committed.

“This was a brutal and horrific attack, after which Atick left the scene. He left John on the floor with injuries, and never sought help for him.

“In my view Atick is a dangerous man. Atick has now been convicted of murdering John and is no longer a threat to the public.

“Thames Valley Police will never tolerate violence in its communities and will always seek to bring offenders like Wesley Atick to justice.”
