An investigation is set to begin after residents were evacuated when a fire broke out at a house in Oxford in the early hours.
At the height of the fire there were seven fire engines tackling the blaze in Franklin Road in Headington.
Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service also sent a hydraulic platform and a command vehicle after the alarm was raised at 1.51am today (April 19).
Fire and Rescue said they can not comment on casualties at this stage.
The platform and two fire engines remain at the scene this morning dealing with hotspots in the building.
Franklin Road resident Sonia Ahmed, who lives a few houses away, said: " I was woken up around 1.30am to blue lights flashing into my bedroom window.
"A house fire had started a few houses away from me and looked very extreme.
"As well as fire engines there were two ambulances and four police cars.
"They closed both ends on Franklin Road.
"The police have advised all near houses to keep their windows closed. There was white smoke and big black smoke.
"The fire had built and looked very dangerous and also looked like it had also gone into the next door house.
"Close by families were told to leave there home for safety."
Later Ms Ahmed added: "It is now 3am and there is still a fire and the situation is still not controlled.
"More fire crew have arrived on the scene."
A spokesperson for Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said an investigation will begin once hotspots are dealt with.
