Four neighbouring Grade II-listed, 18th century cottages are set to go up for sale at auction.

The properties at numbers one, two, five and seven The Row in the village of Bletchingdon, near Kidlington, are being offered by Bond Wolfe with a guide price of £200,000 each.

Interested buyers will have the chance to bid during a livestreamed auction on May 16.

The properties were built in 1794 as a row of 13 rubble-stone cottages with slate roofs.

However, in 1952, the housing authority condemned the old structures.

They were restored in 1954 and converted into seven cottages, receiving their listed status in 1966.

Gurpreet Bassi, chief executive of Bond Wolfe, said: "It’s rare for us to have more than one Grade II-listed property on the same street up for auction, but to have as many as four listed houses that are all neighbouring each other is pretty much unheard of.

"All four are attractive terraced cottages standing flush to the pavement on The Row, in the small and highly sought after village of Bletchingdon."

Number one is an end-terraced property, with a reception room, dining kitchen, and bedroom with ensuite on the ground floor, and a landing and three more bedrooms upstairs.

Number two, a mid-terraced property, features a hall, reception room, and dining kitchen on the ground floor, with a landing, three bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs.

Number five is also a mid-terraced property, with a similar arrangement but it includes an understairs store.

Number seven has a similar layout to number five, but is slightly smaller with only two bedrooms and is an end-terrace.

Mr Bassi added: "These properties are a remarkable opportunity for first-time buyers or landlords seeking to extend their portfolios to take a dip into history."

Despite the age of the buildings, each has modern fittings such as gas-fired central heating, and access to rear gardens along a communal alleyway.

Bletchingdon houses a primary school, sports field, village hall, and a 12th-century parish church.

In addition, there are two cafes in the nearby village of Weston-on-the-Green.

The village is around six miles north of Oxford city centre and approximately 3.5 miles from Oxford Parkway railway station, offering direct links to London Marylebone within 55 minutes.

It also has access to various road links including the A34, A40, A444, and junction 9 of the M40 motorway.
