A CHILDREN'S entertainer was caught by his neighbour looking at ‘shocking and revolting’ child pornography.

On August 18 last year, Paul Hilton was caught looking at child pornography on his parent’s living room television by his neighbour in Malvern Close, Banbury.

When arrested, the self-employed ventriloquist, who runs his entertainment business under the name ‘Paul Dumas’, told police: “I know what I’ve done is a crime.

"I admit what I’ve done, I’m not going to deny it. I have a fascination with younger children.”

The 60-year-old was remanded in custody at HMP Bullingdon for seven months before being released on bail in March this year.

Sentencing him to a two-year community order at Oxford Crown Court on Monday (April 15), Judge Nigel Daly said: “This was a large collection involving at the highest level very young children being made subject to shocking and revolting sexual abuse.

“It’s clear you have a sexual interest in these images.

"Somewhere, young children have been forced to suffer these horrendous acts which have been photographed, preserved and filmed so people like you could get sexual satisfaction from viewing.”

Prosecuting, Bethan Chichester said Hilton’s neighbour was alerted by friends that a man across the road was looking at a video of a young girl.

The neighbour checked and saw a ‘big television’ with ‘several videos on the screen as if they were scrolling through, choosing what to watch’.

Police were called and found the video still playing when they arrested Hilton.

They also found sex toys, lubricants and a sex chat still open on a laptop.

He was charged with six counts of possession of indecent images after being caught with 1,172 Category C images still and moving, 78 Category A images still and moving, and 127 Category B images still and moving.

He was also caught and charged with possession of 18 prohibited images of a child and three extreme pornographic images.

Defending Hilton, barrister George Josef said: “[Prison] has been extremely unpleasant, sharing a cell with people who have serious mental health issues, serious health issues, eating cold food having no one to talk to, no way to improve yourself.

“He was left to his own devices and tried to keep his mind occupied the best he could. These offences have been stressful on his social and family life.

“He’s described it as a sickness, he doesn’t want to feel this way.”

Hilton, now of no fixed abode, was ordered to complete 35 rehabilitation activity days and was made subject to a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
