A 16-year-old boy suffered a broken jaw after being attacked by a large group of around 20 teenagers in a field.

The boy was with friends when another group arrived in a field off Marlow Road, near the Henley Rugby Club and River Thames, on Saturday (April 13) between 7pm and 8pm.

The group then approached the boy and began to attack him, knocking him to the ground and kicking him to the head and body, Thames Valley Police has said.

The teenager suffered a broken jaw and concussion and was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Headington for treatment where he has since been discharged.

Police say the group were all between the ages of 15 and 17 years old, with the majority wearing balaclavas or with hoods up.

No arrests have been made with the force launching an appeal for witnesses to the incident.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Glenn Piccaver of South and Vale Criminal Investigation Department (CID) said: “This was a serious assault on a 16-year-old boy, which has occurred in the early evening.

“I am appealing to anybody who has any information or who witnessed the incident to please get in touch with Thames Valley Police."
