The iconic TV show This Is Your Life is rumoured to be returning for the first time in two decades with two big names set to host.
The popular show saw celebrities surprised with the story of their lives including the likes of Vinnie Jones, Bobby Moore, Martin Kemp, Kay Mellor, Harry Hill, Gyles Brandreth and many more.
This Is Your Life began in 1955 with presenter Eamonn Andrews but it was Michael Aspel who is most connected to the show after hosting for more than 16 years.
Now, after last airing in 2007 for a one-off special hosted by Sir Trevor McDonald, the show is expected to return with a female host for the first time.
This Is Your Life to return with a female host
The likes of Good Morning Britain’s Susanna Reid and Kate Garraway have been linked to the show, along with Question Times Fiona Bruce.
Discussing the reboot, a source told The Sun newspaper: “There is a reason This Is Your Life aired for so many years - as a format, it’s perfect. It’s warm, entertaining and interesting, plus is fairly affordable to make, which of course helps. Since it last ran properly in 2003 many more celebrities are now worth of the big red book treatment.
“It was always such an honour to appear, bosses are confident a whole new generation of stars will embrace a surprise visit from the team. Discussions are underway with a number of potential hosts with a view to getting work underway later this year. A warm, professional interviewer like Susanna or Fiona is seen as the safe hands to steer the next generation of the show. Talks are in early stages and discussions ongoing with a number of channels.”
Back in 2018, there had been rumours This Is Your Life would be back on screens with Jonathan Ross at the helm.
But it was reportedly later scrapped over some changes to the format of the show and how celebrity guests would be surprised.
Throughout This Is Your Life’s run, some celebrities refused to appear on the show, with Danny Blanchflower, and Richard Gordon both choosing not to appear.
Elsewhere, comedian Ronnie Barker was set to appear, but his wife's secretiveness led to him believing she was having an affair and had no choice but to tell him the truth about the show.
