Members of the public attempted to help a man who “fell” into the River Thames in Oxford.
The incident occurred at around 1pm on Tuesday afternoon after multiple reports that a man in his 60s fell into the waterway.
Emergency services including police, fire and rescue and paramedics all raced to Osney, near Botley Road, at around 1.20pm.
Despite searching and scouring the water for hours, the man was not found leading to the investigation continuing one day on.
Thames Valley Police has now provided an update about the man and confirmed the exact location where he entered the water.

Detective Chief Inspector Nicola Underhill said: “Thames Valley Police is today continuing activity to locate a man who was seen to enter the water from East Street in Osney Mead on Tuesday at around 1.20pm.
“We are continuing the search of the River Thames utilising specialist search police resources, with assistance from the Joint Operations Marine Unit and Oxfordshire Search and Rescue.
"Our search activity is guided by the Environment Agency advice around current water conditions.”

Sirens rang around Oxford on Tuesday as a police helicopter also circled around the area in search of the missing man.
Locals reacted in horror as it became apparent what had happened and what was now going on around them.
“We saw the fire engine race past us and heard that a man had fallen into the river which is awful,” said one dogwalker.
“The sirens were so loud around here.”
Another member of the public who was walking close to the river said: “I have no idea what has happened but there are so many police officers and firefighters."
Thames Valley Police said it could not disclose the man's name.
