An initiative which aims to manage traffic and deal with speeding has been launched in Launton.
Residents are being urged by Launton Parish Council to take part in the Community Speedwatch programme as volunteers.
The programme comes after the completion of infrastructure projects including the EWR bridge works, the A41 Graven Hill roundabout works, and the reduction of Launton's speed limit to 20mph.
The initiative is a response to the issues of speeding in the village and high traffic due to drivers using Launton as a shortcut between the A41 and north Bicester.
Teams of two or three volunteers will conduct speed checks, reporting speeding vehicles to the Thames Valley Police for them to take appropriate actions.
Users will need to register and complete an online training module via the Community Speedwatch website prior to starting.
The groups of volunteers will be supported by a co-ordinator.
All the necessary equipment such as speed measuring devices, safety vests and other safety gear will be provided.
Thame Valley Police will perform roadside risk assessments at each site to safeguard team members during operation.
The scheme already take place in various parts of Oxfordshire and around the rest of the country.
Residents interested in taking part in the initiative can contact the co-ordinator at speedwatch@launton-pc.gov.uk
