An art exhibition will take place in Wallingford this summer.
More than 400 art enthusiasts are expected to attend Wallingford & District Art Club’s Exhibition on May 25 and 26 at Centre 70, in central Wallingford.
The club's members, ranging from commercial artists to skilled amateurs will showcase a wide range of artwork including still-life, landscapes, animal portraits, and abstract pieces.
Art patrons will be treated to a live painting session by Mark Wood, who specialises in colourful landmarks and bird illustrations.
Other notable artists to look forward to include Gavin Peacock, SAA’s Amateur Artist of the Year, known for his storytelling in acrylic and oil; Carole Kettle, whose artwork captures people in moments of relaxing or playfulness, often exuding a sunny demeanor; along with Geoff Johnson, esteemed for his expertise in depicting the transformation of flowers and landscapes across seasons.
The show is a part of Wallingford Town Council’s Art Walk, a new initiative to promote visual arts in the region.
Nick Shanagher, chairman of the art group, expressed hopes that alignment with ArtWeeks would further enhance the turnout.
He added that previous exhibitions drew nearly 500 visitors each.
Free entry, limited edition prints and cards for sale, Club's support for an artistic showcase in the Town Hall, and accessibility add to the appeal of the upcoming exhibition.
