An historic 24-bedroom grade II listed hotel has been sold for £1.85m.
The White Hart Hotel in Dorchester in the High Street dates back in parts to the 1600s and has been owned by Nigel and Sue Oddy since 2000.
After having invested in the former coaching inn over the years to bring it up to modern standards, the couple put the business on the market last year so they could finally start their retirement.

The 16th-century hotel has now been bought by Sanjay Dhrona who alongside his family brings a wealth of experience in both the healthcare and hospitality sectors.
Mr Dhrona said: “The White Hart Hotel has a historic charm and for us.
"The location is close to some of our other business assets which aligns perfectly with our vision for providing exceptional hospitality experiences.
“We look forward to welcoming guests and continuing the legacy of this beloved establishment while introducing innovative offerings to cater to the evolving needs of our guests."
The hotel boasts 24 en-suite bedrooms, a restaurant with approximately 50 covers, a residents’ lounge with 40 covers and an outside patio courtyard.
Two private meeting rooms are available for hire, and the hotel has a commercial kitchen, a managers’ office, and five staff bedrooms.
In 2022 the White Hart featured in the 10 best romantic hotels in Oxfordshire, according to TripAdvisor.
Dorchester, five miles from Abingdon, is perhaps best known for its abbey.
The abbey as it now stands was built in the 12th century, replacing two earlier Saxon cathedrals, and some Saxon fabric is still evident in the north wall of the nave.

Former owner, Mr Oddy said: “We are fortunate to have a great team looking after our guests at the White Hart and this is reflected in our exceptional TripAdvisor reviews and number one position in Dorchester.
"There are still opportunities to develop the business further but as we are now in our mid-70s, we feel it’s time to sell and bring in some new energy to the business.”
Peter Brunt, director at Colliers’ Hotels added: “We are pleased to have assisted Sanjay and his family in acquiring the White Hart Hotel.
“This transaction underscores the enduring appeal of heritage properties and the continued confidence in the hospitality sector.
“The start of 2024 has seen us conclude a number of transactions and with strong demand still being shown we would welcome enquiries from hotel and country inn owners considering a sale this year."
